2. Independent Informational Purpose

OpenGenealogy provides an educational and historical research directory indexing ancient parishes, record availability matrices, and public domain historical transcripts. OpenGenealogy is an independent platform and is not owned, operated, or endorsed by commercial genealogy corporations. All registered trademarks and commercial brand names mentioned on this site are property of their respective owners.

3. Outbound Links and Third-Party Repositories

Our search generator and repository guides provide direct research links to third-party archival custodians (including commercial repositories such as Ancestry, Newspapers.com, Fold3, Findmypast, and the British Newspaper Archive). We do not control or assume responsibility for the content, subscription policies, privacy practices, or pricing of these external organizations.

4. User Content & Family Trees

Users who upload genealogical data (e.g. GEDCOM files) retain full copyright and ownership of their family tree research. You warrant that you have the right to upload any such files. OpenGenealogy does not claim ownership over any user-submitted lineage content and allows users to remove their uploaded data upon request.
